She just doesn't know when to keep her big mouth closed. Hey Hilary, Open Mouth, Insert Foot NOW why dontcha! We know you don't want to drop out but it appears that the longer you stay in the race, the more people you seem to alienate. What in the heck does Robert kennedy's assassination have to do with your unwillingness to drop out? Might you, by chance be trying to imply that barack Obama could still be assassinated before this fiasco of a election comes to an end? Perhaps? For those who may not be familiar with the goings on of our crazy election process this is what happened.

Hillary Clinton's argument for staying in the race took a disturbing turn today. While meeting with the editorial board of South Dakota's Sioux Falls Argus-Leader, she raised the specter of Obama's assassination as a reason to stay in the race:

My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it.

The issue of assassination has been a sensitive one this election. Black voters have repeatedly expressed concern that Barack Obama would be assassinated during the race, sentiment that hearkens back to the murders of civil rights leaders, Bobby Kennedy's assassination included. Reports the Telegraph:
Mr Obama, 46, was given full Secret Service protection last May.
It was the earliest juncture for any presidential candidate since the practice was first introduced following the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy, two months after Dr King died from a shot fired by James Earl Ray, an escaped convict and racist.
The prospect of Mr Obama meeting a similar fate is etched deep in the collective psyche of many American blacks, particularly those old enough to remember the events of 1968, who overwhelmingly back the Illinois senator over his rival Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
Earlier in the campaign, a Clinton surrogate also raised the issue of assassination, this time with a more direct reference to Obama. The Clinton camp immediately distanced itself from the suggestion:
Today, in Dover, Francine Torge, a former John Edwards supporter, said this while introducing Mrs. Clinton: "Some people compare one of the other candidates to John F. Kennedy. But he was assassinated. And Lyndon Baines Johnson was the one who actually" passed the civil rights legislation....
Phil Singer, a Clinton spokesman said: "We were not aware that this person was going to make those comments and disapprove of them completely. They were totally inappropriate."
Nobel laureate Doris Lessing also raised a stir when she suggested that Obama would be assassinated were he to become president:
Obama, who is vying to become the first black president in US history, "would certainly not last long, a black man in the position of president. They would murder him," Lessing, 88, told the Dagens Nyheter daily.

The Obama camp has offered the following response to Sen. Clinton's comments:

"Senator Clinton's statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign,
said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

Maroon 5/featuring Rihanna"If I Never See Your Face Again"

Chicago Bulls win No. 1 pick in NBA draft lottery

Suddenly, a coaching search isn’t the only big decision facing the Chicago Bulls.

Now they have to figure out what to do with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.

The Bulls were the surprise winners of the draft lottery Tuesday night, giving them the right to choose between Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose.

Hiring a new coach and deciding what to do in free agency already figured to take up plenty of general manager John Paxson’s time. He never figured one of college basketball’s stud freshmen could land in his lap.

“I try to stay realistic through all these things for the odds,” Paxson said on a conference call. “Tonight for some reason that ball popped up for us and we were there. Now it’s my job to make the most of it.”

Coming off a miserable season and still without a coach, the Bulls vaulted from the No. 9 spot, where they had a 1.7 percent chance of landing the top choice.

“After this season, we needed a break and I think we just got one tonight,” said Steve Schanwald, the Bulls’ executive vice president of business operations who represented them on the podium.

Chicago will almost certainly choose between Beasley, the Kansas State forward who averaged 26.2 points and an NCAA-best 12.4 rebounds, or Rose, the point guard who carried Memphis within minutes of the national title.

“We’ll have an opportunity to get close to those guys. We’ll really take a long look at what makes the most sense for our basketball team,” Paxson said. “Having the pick puts you in a unique position to make your team better.”

The Miami Heat, who had a 25 percent chance of landing the top pick thanks to their NBA-worst 15-67 record, fell to second. The Minnesota Timberwolves will go third.

The Seattle SuperSonics, who moved up to No. 2 last year to pick Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant, fell from second to fourth. Memphis will pick fifth, followed by New York, the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee, Charlotte and New Jersey.

Indiana has the 11th pick, followed by Sacramento, Portland and Golden State. The lottery settled the top three spots. The remainder of the first 14 picks are determined inverse order of their record.

The NBA draft will be held June 26 in New York.

Video Premiere: Usher "Moving Mountains"

Kennedy's Illness May Rob Seanate of Its Deal maker

Sen. Edward Kennedy's diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor has left Congress without its best dealmaker and boldest liberal, a politician known for his staunch positions and willingness to work with right-wing lawmakers.

The Senate opened debate on paying for another year of the Iraq war without the Massachusetts Democrat's customary roar of outrage. Just as evident was his absence when President Bush on Wednesday signed a measure that Kennedy forged with Republicans to protect people from losing their jobs or health insurance because their genes say they are prone to future illness.

Whenever there was a deal to be made on important legislation, the scion of the famed political family was somewhere nearby despite his reputation as one of the Senate's last liberal lions.

That willingness to buck his own party and cut deals means that Kennedy has left his mark on health care, civil rights, welfare, housing, education, foreign affairs and other issues.

"He has crossed the aisle and sponsored so many legislative enactments," said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa.

Conservative Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., added: "Although it is no surprise there are areas where we have a difference of opinion, there are also many areas where we worked together, particularly on child-care and disability issues."

In a climate that values party loyalty and making political points more than making laws, there is a dearth of potential stand-ins.

Sen. John McCain, the likely GOP presidential nominee, is perhaps the closest. But his alliances with Democrats on campaign finance, immigration, torture and other issues has tested the patience of his party's conservative base.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., reached out and negotiated a $168 billion plan of tax rebates and other measure with Bush this year. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., has put together bipartisan coalitions for advancing measures to save hundreds of thousands of strapped homeowners from foreclosures and secure civil rights for homosexuals.

Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham of South Carolina has cut deals with Democrats on getting conservative judges confirmed, banning torture in interrogating suspected terrorists, getting tougher with China on trade and expanding health care for members of the National Guard and Reserves.

But none has the reputation and record that Kennedy has in assembling coalitions and keeping them together.
